Judge Djinsad Desir for Rockland County Court 2024

I am running for Rockland County Court Judge and ask for your support. In most of New York, the County Court is where felony charges are prosecuted. County Court Judges make important decisions that affect the lives of those accused, victims, their families, and the community at large.

A Patient, Experienced Judge.

A graduate of North Rockland High School, for over 10 years, Judge Desir has worked as a judge in Rockland County and works to ensure that everyone who appears before him is treated fairly and with respect. He also currently serves as a Principal Court Attorney to a sitting Rockland County Court Judge.

Counseling is Important

In criminal cases, Judge Desir strongly encourages counseling instead of incarceration when it's appropriate. Judge Desir believes alternatives to incarceration should be pursued in certain cases to give people a second chance.

Efficient Disposition of Cases is Key

Judge Desir works to dispose of cases before him as expeditiously as possible. He understands that that justice delayed can be justice denied.

Rockland Born and Raised

Judge Desir is a seasoned jurist with a decade of judicial experience. He is a proud graduate of North Rockland High School. A son of Haitian immigrants, after law school he came back to Rockland County and worked at the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County where he represented tenants and homeowners in local and state courts. Outside the courtroom, Judge Desir remains passionate about mentoring young people, providing college admissions advice to high school seniors regarding test preparation, scholarships, and other aspects of the college application process. His commitment extends to mentoring professionals early in their careers.

Judge Desir's service to the community extends to memberships with the Spring Valley and Nyack branches of the NAACP, reflecting a deep commitment to social justice. He has been a member and a leader at Sinai Church in Spring Valley, New York where he has attended services since he was young. He approaches every aspect of his work with a profound sense of gratitude, finding immense joy and fulfillment in his profession and public service.

In his leisure moments, Judge Desir is an avid fan of the New York Giants, cherishing the euphoric memories of the 2007 and 2011 Super Bowl victories over Tom Brady and the Patriots.
